Does Standing Hurt Your Back?

Is it difficult to stand without back pain after surgery?

This is a really common complaint after hysterectomy.

Here’s what’s often going on…

  • Abdomen has been weakened and inflamed by large fibroids, inflammation, and bloating.

  • Pelvic floor is tight, weak, and always clenched. They experience "phantom tampon" symptoms and struggle to initiate their urine stream.

  • Glutes are exhausted, always clenching to provide support to weakened muscles.

This is a recipe for back pain…

But the good news is that you can break this cycle. It doesn’t have to be permanent.

Where do you start?

  • Strengthen your abs, glutes, and pelvic floor slowly, over 8–12 weeks at a minimum (but preferably for the rest of your life).

  • Learn to lengthen your pelvic floor in standing positions, not just on a table.

  • Notice where you’re holding tension throughout the day.

  • Unclench those butt cheeks!

Do you resonate with this? I’d love to hear from you!
