The Most Extreme Surgery I’ve Ever Seen…(TRIGGER WARNING: MEDICAL TRAUMA)

Let’s face it, the healthcare system is a mess.

So bad, in fact, that it led to the most extreme surgery situation I’ve ever seen: a patient having a full hysterectomy for giant fibroids with only an epidural.

Yes, I mean she wasn't under general anesthesia…

Unable to access much-needed surgery in the US, she had to undergo this surgery in another country, where she nearly bled to death while having her hysterectomy with a large vertical incision…

When I heard her story, I was speechless...

When I heard her goals, I was inspired.

Only months after this horrible experience, she was ready to take control of her situation, but she didn’t know if it was possible…

This was her situation, in her own words:

“My goal is to recover to be more physically active and be able to dance again. I’m also extremely insecure about my body, and this is the unhealthiest and weakest I’ve ever been. Most days I think that it’s only downhill from here and that I have no real chance of ever feeling good about myself, but I’m trying to give myself a chance.”

A longtime dancer, she wanted to be able to get back to pole classes, strength training, and working out…
She was also struggling with the loss of her health after a horrible experience with fibroids, her surgery, and her recovery.

She was feeling unwell in her body, had gained a lot of unwanted weight, and was uncertain whether she’d ever be able to do the things she loves again.

This is what I mean when I say fibroids will take everything from us if we let them.

After an experience like this, she could have taken the easy path.

She could have let go of her health aspirations, forgotten about her love for pole, and soothed her trauma with restaurant trips.

But she made a different choice.

We’ve been working together for 3 months. After some time rebuilding her strength and mobility, she was able to return to pole.

She prioritized her health and started doing things like cooking breakfast at home, making healthier choices when she had to eat out, and having fewer refined foods. She’s losing weight and feeling better.

Now, she’s wrapping up her program and going back to pole classes! (an incredibly athletic and challenging sport)

I am so incredibly proud of this woman and grateful to share a small part of her story.

If you are struggling, please know you are not alone, and if you want to get your strength back and go back to the activities you love, YOU CAN.

But... our healthcare system is a mess, and there is no sign of change on the horizon right now.

Surgeons can do your surgery. They can save your life.
They cannot give you wellness. Only you can do that.

If you need help along the way, I'm here for you.
