Living With Fibroids: 6 Things I Do To Stay Healthy

Fibroids often come with a string of comorbidities like high blood pressure, thyroid issues, and even pelvic floor problems. Sound familiar?

If so, it can feel harder to stay healthy—but it’s not impossible.

After more than 15 years living with fibroids, recovering from four major surgeries, and helping hundreds of women, here’s what I’ve learned:

  1. Regular Bloodwork
I watch my thyroid, inflammation, and metabolic markers closely. Even if “normal” by standard labs, I aim for optimal.

  2. Exercise Is Non-Negotiable
If you’ve got a genetic hand like mine, skipping workouts can mean needless suffering or worse.

  3. Proactive Pelvic Floor Care
Daily fiber, zero straining in the bathroom, plus exercises that keep my entire pelvic girdle strong.

  4. Moderate Protein Intake
I eat more protein than the average person but not so much that it overloads my GI system. Balance is key!

  5. Fewer Endocrine Disruptors, More Real Food
I’ve cut back on bottled shakes, protein bars, and processed extras. Now, 90% of my diet is whole, minimally packaged foods.

  6. Work Hard, Go Slow
We often need more time and effort to see results—don’t quit. It’s still worth it.

If any of this resonates with you, keep going. A fibroid diagnosis might complicate life, but with the right plan and mindset, you can still thrive.
