Health Anxiety?

In 2018, I started my dream job.

I was working in a state-of-the-art sports performance facility… working with athletes in the NFL, NBA, NHL, and UFC.

and I was getting paid to be there?? I should have been on top of the world.

And I was, for my first 12-hour shift... but around 3 a.m. that night, I woke up in a panic.

Checking my fitness tracker, my heart rate was 150, and I couldn’t calm down. I ended up in the emergency room for what I later found out was my first panic attack.

For a while, I thought it was the energy drinks (have y’all ever been around athletes? It’s a lot).

But after feeling my anxiety rage for months, this is what I realized:

I had health anxiety.

Every funny sensation, every hyped-up moment, every skipped meal… was sending my body into a panic.

It was happening because I was trying to fit myself, with all my traumas and all my health issues, into an environment that wasn’t for me.

I didn’t have time to eat, think, rest, or connect with my patients… So I quit, and my business was born.

Today, I see these patterns in so many of my own clients.

Medical trauma is REAL.

The burden of ongoing doctor’s appointments, regular lab work, surgeries, planning time off, bleeding through your clothes, living with pain… it’s real, and it’s TRAUMATIC.

If you’re like me, you’ll always live with some worry that you’ll encounter new health issues outside of your control. That worry can also lower the space for bullsh*t in your life.

You may need more:

  • Rest

  • Nourishing meals

  • Time to yourself

  • Exercise

  • Outside time

  • Therapy

… I know I needed all of that and then some… but only you can decide what your body needs.

I can only encourage you to listen to it and give your body the space it needs.
