Signs Of Fibroid Growth

There’s more to fibroid growth than heavy bleeding.

Most women diagnosed with fibroids are told to “wait and see,” but they’re not told what to wait for… just bleeding.

Well, it doesn’t have to get so bad that you’re bleeding your life away. Here are some other clues that fibroids are growing, and you may need more frequent follow-up:

  • Pain: usually in the hips and lower back

  • Nerve problems: sciatica, numb legs or feet, vulvar/vaginal numbness, or sensation loss

  • Feeling like you can’t get a tampon in or your tampon pushes out easily, including pushing out when you exercise

  • Frequent urination

  • Urine leaks when you cough, laugh, sneeze, or exercise

  • Exercise is getting harder for no apparent reason. Squats, deadlifts, and core exercises are all getting harder

  • You can't lose weight no matter what you do, especially in the belly

  • Inflammatory symptoms: breakouts, skin changes, joint pain, trouble recovering from exercise

  • Every time you pee, it feels like there’s more left behind

  • Constipation, even if it sometimes alternates with diarrhea

I simply hear too many stories of women who’ve been told to wait and see, not realizing these things were also signs of growth… to eventually find out their fibroids were huge and required more invasive surgery.

In fact, I’ve been through the same thing myself.

I was on the verge of beginning fertility treatments while my doctors insisted my fibroids were not my problem with conceiving.

My surgeon, whom I had to seek out for myself, was willing to operate anyway. My ultrasound said I had 3 fibroids… She removed 47.

We are the authority in our own bodies.

If something doesn’t feel right, insist on getting help.
