Can You Feel Your Glutes?

This is a common pattern I see in women who deal with leaking or pelvic heaviness after surgery…

They have trouble feeling their glutes when they exercise.

Our pelvic floor has three primary functions: sex, sphincter, and support.

The layers of our pelvic floor that provide the most support are deeply related to our glutes. You can’t get support from one without the other.

So in many cases, finding those booty muscles can be key to resolving symptoms and preventing issues for the long haul.

Here are some common exercises you should be able to feel your glutes with, but many people don’t:

  • Side-to-side band walks

  • Glute bridges

  • Hip thrusts

  • Lunges

  • Split squats

  • Deadlifts/Romanian Deadlifts

  • Glute kickbacks

  • Donkey kicks

  • Clamshells

  • Side planks

  • Various glute exercises in Pilates

If you tend to struggle with being able to find your glutes, this can be a really important goal to work on for long-term pelvic floor health.

But if you’re sick of trying to put the pieces together for yourself, I can help you…
