Hair Loss After Hysterectomy?
Hair loss after a hysterectomy is a real thing. If you’re seeing abnormal hair loss, visit your doctor and a dermatologist for a full look into why.
But like always, you can also look at what you can do to improve hair loss while you’re waiting for those appointments.
Here are a few things that have aided the women I work with:
Stress reduction. Going from 6 weeks of recovery to full speed back into life can be a lot. Manage your stress wherever you can; this looks different for everyone.
Eat enough. Your metabolism is 15-20% faster while healing from surgery; your body is working hard, and it needs nourishment. Even adding broth or protein water can help.
Hair serums. There are tons of serums on the market to help hair growth or slow down loss. The Ordinary makes one that I’ve used personally!
Sleep. If you’re struggling with sleep, go harder with sleep hygiene. No phones in bed; turn the lights off an hour before bed; trade the TV for reading. It helps, truly.
Take your supplements. If you’ve been prescribed supplements for something like low iron or vitamin D, get back on track with taking them. It’s easy to lose your rhythm with these things after surgery.
What’s been your experience with hair loss? I’d love to hear from you!
