My 6-Week Follow Up

I had my 6-week follow-up! Here’s what happened:

  1. Urine Sample

  2. Vitals

  3. Abdominal incision check

  4. Internal check

My surgeon was able to tell me I still have a single internal suture that hasn’t dissolved. This is VERY normal at 6 weeks.

Otherwise, everything is healing well… However, she recommended waiting about two more weeks for sex.

THIS is exactly why I’m always saying I find it ridiculous when people don’t get internal checks.

Imagine if I didn’t know that suture was there…

I’m told I’m “cleared” just because I’m feeling well, not bleeding, etc.

… and then I try to have sex… and that suture hurts; maybe I bleed from it; maybe it hurts my husband.

Imagine what that can do to someone mentally when they don’t KNOW there’s a suture there.

The worry.

The fear of sex.

The worry they’re doing something wrong.

The fear it instills in their partner.

None of us should have to go through that.

I want to KNOW if there’s a damn suture IN MY NEWLY RECONSTRUCTED VAGINA.

Anyway, end rant.

If you’re reading this and haven’t had surgery yet and you don’t get an internal check before being cleared, ask WHY NOT.

You deserve it.
